From August 4 to August 17, 2024, the training program for outstanding Chinese language teachers of the Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center (CELEC) of the Ministry of Education, entitled "2024 Training Program for Outstanding Local Chinese Language Teachers", was held in Beijing.

The program was sponsored by the School of International Chinese Language Education of Beijing Normal University (BNU) and aimed to promote exchange and cooperation. Through lectures, discussions, observations and cultural experiences, teachers from Asia, Africa and Europe were able to expand their teaching methods and strengthen their professional qualities.

Η κυρία Μιλπάνη εκφράζει την ευγνωμοσύνη της προς το Beijing Normal University του Πεκίνου και ελπίζει στη συνέχιση τέτοιου είδους προγραμμάτων που τονώνουν τις σχέσεις συνεργασίας στην εκπαίδευση μεταξύ των δύο χωρών και οδηγούν σε βελτιωμένα πρότυπα διδασκαλίας της κινεζικής γλώσσας.

On Wednesday, May 22, an official visit was made by the General Director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Mr. Yunfeng Yu, to the Confucius Institute of the University of Thessaly (U.Th.).

The Center for Language Education and Cooperation is the supervisory authority of the Confucius Institutes and the exclusive authority for conducting the Chinese language certification exams worldwide.

Mr. Yu in his short visit to Greece as part of his world tour of the leading Confucius Institutes, chose the University of Thessaly and the Confucius Institute based in Volos, in order to meet with the Rectorate and Professors of the Institute.

In the meeting he had with the Vice Rector of International Relations, Outreach and Lifelong Learning of U.Th. and President of the Board of Directors of the Institute, Professor Spyridon Karamanos, and the Director of the Confucius Institute, Professor Georgios Petrakos, Mr. Yu said: 'My colleagues and I are very happy, although we are only two days in Greece, that we visited this the beautiful seaside town, and your University and we are grateful to the Director of the Institute for the support. I am very grateful to the Rectorate but also to the whole community of the University of Thessaly for their support.'

Mr. Yu added that despite the extensive flood damage to the classrooms on the first floor of the building, the overall appearance of the Confucius Institute left him with an outstanding impression. Also, Mr. Yu added: 'On behalf of the Center for Chinese Language and Cooperation, I am grateful to the Vice-Chancellor of International Relations, Outreach and Lifelong Education of the University of Thessaly and the Director of the Confucius Institute for their support to the entire work of the Institute. Confucius. Director Professor Xiaohong Wang, and the staff of the Institute, told us that they are not only very happy to live here, but also feel very productive. This would not have been possible without the strong support of our Greek friends.'

The Vice Rector of the University of Thessaly, Professor Spyridonas Karamanos, after welcoming the visitors stated: 'I think this is a wonderful day for us and I am very happy that friends from China are visiting the University of Thessaly, and I believe this is due to the Confucius Institute . It is impressive to see the keen interest of the locals in Chinese culture and China in general. We receive letters from primary and secondary schools requesting to visit the Chinese Language and Culture Institute, which is really heartwarming. For my part, I welcome you, thank you for the care, resources and support you offer to the Confucius Institute, and I wish you a pleasant day in Greece.'

'Welcome to Greece and Volos' said the Director of the Institute and former Rector of the University of Thessaly, Professor George Petrakos, and went on to describe the planning for the future activities and educational directions of the Confucius Institute. A development direction of cooperation is the organization of joint activities with Chinese universities, including the Central University of Finance and Economics, from the simplest forms, such as student or professor exchanges, to deeper cooperation, such as joint training programs for graduates. The University of Thessaly is a university that covers almost all scientific subjects with wide areas of scientific specialization. We have 35 departments and we want to improve and we want to expand our internationalization strategy not only in Europe and the United States, countries with which we already have strong ties, but also in China, an emerging power in education. We are therefore open to future collaborations.'

The visit of General Director Mr. Yu and the team of the Center for Chinese Language and Cooperation, who accompanied him, ended with lunch and a guided tour to the village of Makrinitsa.

Δωρεά βιβλίων από τον Εκδοτικό Όμιλο της Κίνας στο Ινστιτούτο Κομφούκιος του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας

Την Τρίτη, 14 Μαϊου, πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Πρεσβεία της Λαϊκής Δημοκρατίας της Κίνας, τελετή δωρεάς βιβλίων από τον Εκδοτικό Όμιλο της Κίνας προς το Ινστιτούτο Κομφούκιος του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας. Περισσότερα από 400 βιβλία, που καλύπτουν την κινεζική ιστορία, πολιτισμό, τέχνη, επιστήμη και άλλους τομείς, δωρήθηκαν στο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας. Μεταξύ αυτών, ορισμένα παιδικά βιβλία δωρήθηκαν ειδικά στο 4ο Νηπιαγωγείο Καρδίτσας. Χαίρομαι που βλέπω ότι τα βιβλία ως γέφυρες βοηθούν τους δύο λαούς μας να ενισχύσουν την αμοιβαία κατανόηση και τη φιλία μας δήλωσε ο Πρέσβης της Λαϊκής Δημοκρατίας της Κίνας στην Ελλάδα, κύριος Xiao Junzheng.

Εορτασμός της Κινέζικης Πρωτοχρονιάς στο Ινστιτούτο «ΚΟΜΦΟΥΚΙΟΣ» του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας

Το Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας και το Ινστιτούτο «Κομφούκιος» γιόρτασαν την Κινέζικη Πρωτοχρονιά και την έναρξη του σεληνιακού νέου έτους του Δράκου την Παρασκευή 23 Φεβρουαρίου 2024, στο Μέγαρο Τσικρίκη, που αποτελεί έδρα του Ινστιτούτου, παρουσία των Πρυτανικών Αρχών του Πανεπιστημίου, του Διευθυντή του Ινστιτούτου, μελών της ακαδημαϊκής κοινότητας και πληθώρας σπουδαστών και κατοίκων της πόλης του Βόλου. Οι πολιτισμοί της Κίνας και της Ελλάδας συναντήθηκαν για άλλη μια φορά με αμοιβαίο σεβασμό, ένδειξη της επιθυμίας των δύο χωρών για αγαστή συνεργασία και αμοιβαία ευδοκίμηση.

Την εκδήλωση επιμελήθηκαν οι Καθηγήτριες του Ινστιτούτου «Κομφούκιος», οι οποίες αναφέρθηκαν στη σημασία της κινέζικης Πρωτοχρονιάς και στη συνέχεια παρουσίασαν διάφορα αντιπροσωπευτικά καλλιτεχνικά δρώμενα, με παραδοσιακή κινέζικη μουσική της Πρωτοχρονιάς συνοδεία κινέζικων παραδοσιακών μουσικών οργάνων, με χορό και τραγούδι και με τα παραδοσιακά χειροποίητα φανάρια του Φεστιβάλ της Άνοιξης (Spring Festival). Επιπλέον, οι σπουδαστές του Ινστιτούτου είχαν την ευκαιρία να γευτούν παραδοσιακά κινέζικα πρωτοχρονιάτικα εδέσματα, να ασκηθούν στην κινέζικη καλλιγραφία με ευχές για τη νέα χρονιά και να απολαύσουν το παραδοσιακό τελετουργικό της προετοιμασίας και του σερβιρίσματος του τσαγιού.

Ο Αντιπρύτανης Διεθνών Σχέσεων, Εξωστρέφειας και Δια Βίου Εκπαίδευσης του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας, Καθηγητής Σπυρίδων Καραμάνος, καλωσόρισε εκ μέρους του Πανεπιστημίου τη νέα «χρονιά του Δράκου» και υπογράμμισε πως τα μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Ινστιτούτου έχουν σχεδιάσει σειρά εκπαιδευτικών και πολιτισμικών δραστηριοτήτων για το 2024, ανάμεσά τους και Κοινά Προγράμματα Σπουδών με κινέζικα Πανεπιστήμια. Παράλληλα ευχαρίστησε όλα τα μέλη του Ινστιτούτου και ιδιαιτέρως τον Διευθυντή, Καθηγητή Γεώργιο Πετράκο για την σημαντική συμβολή του στην ίδρυση και επιτυχή λειτουργία του Ινστιτούτου «Κομφούκιος» στο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας.

Ο Διευθυντής του Ινστιτούτου Κομφούκιος, Καθηγητής Γεώργιος Πετράκος, επισήμανε ότι το Ινστιτούτο έχει διανύσει μια επιτυχημένη πορεία έως σήμερα. Ο ίδιος οραματίζεται την ίδρυση νέων τμημάτων και στις υπόλοιπες πόλεις του Π.Θ., καθώς το Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας και η τοπική κοινωνία έχουν σαφώς να κερδίσουν από τη συνεργασία με τα κινέζικα Πανεπιστήμια, καθώς αυτά κατέχουν κορυφαία θέση στις διεθνείς κατατάξεις των Ιδρυμάτων Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης παγκοσμίως. Ο κ. Γ. Πετράκος ευχαρίστησε τις Πρυτανικές Αρχές και την πανεπιστημιακή κοινότητα του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας για τη θέρμη με την οποία στηρίζουν το Ινστιτούτο «Κομφούκιος», την κοινωνία του Βόλου που το έχει αγκαλιάσει και, τέλος, τη Διευθύντρια και τους Καθηγητές του Ινστιτούτου που έχουν έρθει από την Κίνα και εργάζονται εδώ με απαράμιλλο ζήλο και αφοσίωση.

Ακολούθησε η απονομή των πτυχίων στους επιτυχόντες των εξετάσεων πιστοποίησης γνώσης της κινέζικης γλώσσας, που διενεργήθηκαν το 2023 στο Ινστιτούτο «Κομφούκιος».

“The Location Patterns of Chinese FDI in Europe within the BRI Framework”

A scientific visit to the Central University of Finance and Economics was successfully completed following an invitation received by Professor Zhidong Liu, Dean of the School of Management Science and Engineering, by the Professors of the University of Thessaly and Georgios Petrakos and Dimitris Kallioras.
The Confucius Institute of the University of Thessaly, in collaboration with the Central University of Finance and Economics, organized the summer course entitled "The Location Patterns of Chinese FDI in Europe within the BRI Framework", exclusively for Chinese students. The Professors of the Department of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly, George Petrakos and Dimitrios Kallioras, held 8 two-hour lectures as part of the Summer course, in Beijing.

2019 Θερινό Σχολείο ‘Experience and Practice of Infrastructure Investment and Management in the Belt & Road Countries’

Θερινό σχολείο για Κινέζους και Έλληνες φοιτητές με τίτλο «Εμπειρία και πρακτική επένδυσης και διαχείρισης υποδομών στις χώρες της ζώνης και του δρόμου». Στο θερινό σχολείο συμμετείχαν περίπου 30 φοιτητές από τα πανεπιστήμια του Central University of Finance and Economics και του Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Το θερινό σχολείο πραγματεύτηκε σε βάθος έρευνα για τη βελτίωση της περιφερειακής ολοκλήρωσης, την αύξηση του εμπορίου και την τόνωση της οικονομικής ανάπτυξης. Οι μαθητές απέκτησαν τεράστια έκθεση στον κλάδο λόγω της τακτικής αλληλεπίδρασής τους με αξιόλογους εμπειρογνώμονες του κλάδου και παρακολουθώντας το ετήσιο συνέδριο Changing Cities στα Χανιά, Ελλάδα, σχετικά με την ανάπτυξη και διαχείριση υποδομών.

2023 Θερινό Σχολείο “Chinese Bridge Summer Camp”

Από τις 25 Ιουλίου έως τις 5 Αυγούστου του 2023 πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Κίνα το Θερινό σχολείο με τίτλο “2023 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp”. Το Θερινό Σχολείο χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το Κέντρο Ανταλλαγών και Συνεργασίας Ξένων Γλωσσών του Υπουργείου Παιδείας της Κίνας, σε συνεργασία με το Κεντρικό Πανεπιστήμιο Οικονομικών του Πεκίνου (Central University of Finance and Economics – CUFE), το οποίο και φιλοξένησε τους σπουδαστές που συμμετείχαν, και το Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας, που ανέλαβε την όλη διοργάνωση. Στο Θερινό σχολείο συμμετείχαν Έλληνες σπουδαστές του Ινστιτούτου Κομφούκιος του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας, του Ινστιτούτου Κομφούκιος του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης και του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης με συνοδό την καθηγήτρια της Κινεζικής γλώσσας του Ινστιτούτου Κομφούκιος του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας, Γεωργία Μιλπάνη.

Στις 27 Ιουλίου, οι Έλληνες φοιτητές συμμετείχαν στην εκδήλωση με θέμα “Η αμοιβαία εκτίμηση των πολιτισμών Ελλάδας-Κίνας,” η οποία διοργανώθηκε από κοινού από τον Κινεζικό Λαϊκό Σύνδεσμο Φιλίας με Ξένες Χώρες, το Κέντρο Ανταλλαγής και Συνεργασίας Ξένων Γλωσσών Κίνας και το Κέντρο Αμοιβαίας Εκτίμησης Πολιτισμού Κίνας-Ελλάδας, με τους Έλληνες φοιτητές να παρουσιάζουν παραστάσεις και δρώμενα στην Κινεζική γλώσσα.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του θερινού σχολείου, οι φοιτητές είχαν την ευκαιρία να συμμετάσχουν σε πληθώρα μαθημάτων Κινεζικής γλώσσας και να γνωρίσουν την κινεζική κουλτούρα μέσω δραστηριοτήτων όπως καλλιγραφία, χαρτοκοπτική, ζωγραφική, όπερας του Πεκίνου, ένδυση με φορέματα από διαφορετικές δυναστείες, κινεζικά τραγούδια και χορούς.

Τέλος, πραγματοποίησαν συνάντηση με τον Πρέσβη της Ελλάδας στο Πεκίνο, κ. Ευγένιο Καλπύρη, μετά από πρόσκληση που έλαβαν, και είχαν μια εποικοδομητική και ευχάριστη συζήτηση μαζί του.

Εκ μέρους των Ελλήνων καθηγητών και φοιτητών, η καθηγήτρια και συνοδός Γεωργία Μιλπάνη, εξέφρασε την ευγνωμοσύνη της προς το Πανεπιστήμιο Οικονομικών του Πεκίνο (CUFE), το Κέντρο Ανταλλαγών και Συνεργασίας Ξένων Γλωσσών της Κίνας και το Κέντρο Αμοιβαίας Εκτίμησης Πολιτισμού Κίνας-Ελλάδας και το Ινστιτούτο Κομφούκιος του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας για τη διοργάνωση του θερινού σχολείου.

Chinese dance has a long history of thousands of years. It is an art form based on the deep foundations of traditional aesthetics and has rich expressive power. It is characterized by delicacy, grace and is a unique artistic expression. Dance in China appears to have developed out of religious ceremonies and has a long association with theater and martial arts. Most traditional dance forms survive in Chinese opera.

At the Confucius Institute we are pleased to offer Chinese dance lessons to anyone interested, thus making this expression of Chinese culture accessible to all.

Vocal music is complicated because of the complex tones and the peculiarity of the Chinese language. For example, although Chinese words are monosyllabic, the singer must pay close attention to the pronunciation of the beginning, middle, and end of each word in Kun opera and Nanguan music. Therefore, timbre in Chinese music has a deeper meaning than just tone color.

Chinese phonetics are often described as high-pitched and nasal. This is generally true, but there are differences by geographic region. Northern singing styles (such as Peking Opera) tend to be higher pitched and tighter than southern singing styles (such as Kun or Nanguan opera). This North-South contrast in vocal can even be heard in local Baiguan (Northern-style theater) and Nanquan (Southern-style theater or lyric singing) on the island of Taiwan.

Chinese song is a special way of artistic expression. At the Confucius Institute of the University of Thessaly you have the opportunity to get to know Chinese song and music, participating in singing activities and singing Chinese pieces under the guidance of specialized teachers.

Chinese calligraphy (shūfǎ), i.e. the artistic writing of Chinese characters, is one of the most ancient art forms. It is a highly respected form of visual art, sometimes surpassing paintings and sculptures in ancient China. Being of the same artistic value as poetry, calligraphy writing is an outlet of free expression through Chinese culture.
At the Confucius Institute you have the opportunity to get to know the world of Chinese calligraphy up close through weekly interactive lessons.

The “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition is a large-scale international competition organized by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban). Since its launch in 2002, this annual event has been held 17 times and has attracted more than 2,000 university students from over 90 countries to participate in the semi-finals and finals in China. In addition, there are more than 400,000 students all over the world involved in the preliminary rounds. This competition is now an important platform for university students to show their Chinese language and cultural knowledge.

During the competition the judges evaluate: Chinese language proficiency (listening, speaking, reading, writing) knowledge about China

Chinese cultural talents (Chinese music, dances, performing arts, Chinese acrobatics, calligraphy, painting, paper cutting, martial arts, etc.)

The winner of the contest held in Greece will go to China for the semi-finals and finals. The winner of the second prize will get the possibility to go to China to watch the competition.
