Location & Infrastructures
The Confucius Institute of the University of Thessaly has its headquarters in Volos, specifically in the Tsikriki mansion.
The Tsikriki mansion is a preserved monument classified by the Ministry of Culture as a work of art, which needs special state protection. It is the work of the architect Anastasios Metaxas (1863-1937) and presents architectural and morphological interest as a remarkable example of the eclectic architecture of the interwar period. The building was designed as the residence of the mayor A. Glavanis and in 1955 it was bought by the ophthalmologist Tsikrikis and used as an ophthalmology clinic and residence of his family. The French consulate was housed on the ground floor of the building.
The Confucius Institute of the University of Thessaly in Volos consists of 3 teaching rooms, an event hall, two assembly rooms and 3 professors' offices. It also has a fully equipped lending library and reading room.
In the future, it is planned to create a branch of the Confucius Institute of the University of Thessaly in the other cities where faculties and departments of the University of Thessaly are based.
